If you are a skilled worker or professional, you may be eligible to immigrate to Canada in the Federal Skilled Worker class.
To be eligible under the current regime, you must:
Either have a valid offer of arranged employment in Canada, or have at least one year of continuous full-time paid work experience in any one or more of the 29 in-demand occupations identified by the Canadian government.
In addition, you must
- Have at least one year of continuous full-time or equivalent in part time paid work experience in a management, professional, or technical occupation or skilled trade
- Obtain at least 67 points on the skilled worker point’s grid. Points are awarded for your age, your education, your abilities in English and/or French, your work experience, your adaptability and whether or not you have arranged employment in Canada.
- Demonstrate that you have proof of sufficient funds to support yourself and your family members for the first 6 months after you arrive in Canada. This is necessary unless you have arranged employment in Canada, The amount you will need is determined by the size of your family.
- Provide the necessary supporting documents to prove that you qualify. These will include proof of language proficiency based on the results of your official language proficiency test, documents pertaining to identity & civil status, travel documents and passports, documents pertaining to education/training/qualifications, and documents pertaining to work experience.
Your initial application will be submitted to the Centralized Intake Office in Canada. If your application is accepted for further processing, it will be processed at a Canadian visa office abroad.
If you do not presently qualify for your application to be processed in the Federal Skilled Worker class, you may consider coming to Canada to work or study. You may also consider immigration as a Provincial Nominee or a Quebec Skilled Worker.
